This month, we're getting to know Ann Reichert. Ann sings Lead with us in much of our repertoire, but has recently made the switch to Tenor! We enjoyed learning about all her activities in and out of GRC - we hope you do, too!

How did you come to GRC? Tell us your origin story.
My origin story started in 2012. My youngest was a rising senior in high school and I was looking for something outside of the home to get involved with. At the time, several of my fellow church choir members were in GRC and invited me to their upcoming summer guest program. I was hooked!

What do you do outside of GRC?
Outside of GRC, since I’m retired, I’m mostly “LaLa” to my grandkids. My hobbies include reading, jigsaw puzzles, or any craft involving a needle. I also sing with my church’s choir and am a member of a local mixed chorus, The Virginians.

What's one of your best memories with the chorus?
One of my best memories was my first performance with GRC. It was on the staircase at The Jefferson Hotel, during the holiday Tree Lighting event. It was such a thrill!

What is something surprising or interesting you've learned as a Sweet Adeline?
I’ve learned so much as a Sweet Adeline! Along with learning how to sing barbershop and how to read music, I’ve discovered that I really like wearing sequins!

How has being a member of GRC changed your life?
Being a member of GRC has changed my life by giving me a hobby and activities outside of being a wife, mother & grandmother. It’s given me so many friends and a solid support system. I know my future will always include my “Singing Sisters” and will never be boring!

What's your favorite song in GRC's repertoire and why is it your favorite? What about your least favorite?
I have two favorite songs depending on which part I’m singing. My favorite as a Lead is “Seven Bridges Road.” This song is so full of wonderful harmonies! As a Tenor, my favorite is “Trashin’ the Camp” because it’s just so fun! My least favorite is the Regional arrangement of “We Are Family” which is sad since the song has a great message.

Anything else we should know about you? Something I didn't ask?
I also enjoy sending out the weekly rehearsal agendas and keeping the event calendar up-to-date. They are great “behind the scene” ways to continually help the chorus!
