Vera Crouse
Meet Our Director
Vera Crouse (she/her) has been the director of the Greater Richmond Chorus since 2014, but discovered her love for the barbershop style in high school. She started as a quartet singer in both the Young Women in Harmony and the Barbershop Harmony Society youth programs, which helped her to continue singing barbershop throughout college until she found GRC in the fall of 2011.
Vera has directed the chorus and performed in quartets at multiple Sweet Adelines International Competitions including singing lead with the 2017 Region 14 2nd place medalist quartet, REV’L. She also wears a 5th Place Rising Star medal from singing bass with Cosmo, became a Certified Director in 2017, and is serving as the Young Women in Harmony Specialist for Heart of the Blue Ridge Region 14.
As a music educator, Vera enjoys working with musicians of all ages. She graduated from Longwood University with her bachelor’s in Music Education and currently works as an elementary music teacher for Chesterfield County as well as an instructor at Bach2Rock in Midlothian where she teaches early childhood music classes, piano and voice lessons, and Glee.
“The best part about GRC is that it fulfills everything I need - a place to learn, grow, and improve, an outlet to sing and perform, and the best group of sisters in harmony that a girl could ask for! It’s great to be a Sweet Adeline!” -Vera
