Come Sing With us!
Greater Richmond Chorus isn’t just an a cappella group, we’re a community. We come together each week to make music, stay connected, and support one another. Whether you’ve been singing forever or you’re just getting started, there’s a place for you here. Curious about what we do? Drop in on a rehearsal! You’ll hear some four-part harmony, meet our members, and even hop up on the risers if you’re feeling it. We welcome new singers all year long, and we’d love to meet you—whoever you are, however you sing.
We welcome visitors to our weekly rehearsals at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church (no affiliation) on Thursdays at 6:30pm.
Drop in on a rehearsal (see

🎶 Thinking About Joining? 🎶
What's the process for joining?
Visit at least two rehearsals to check our vibe and get some experience singing with us. When you're ready to join, we'll set you up with everything you need for the audition process.
What will happen when I visit?
One of our coaches will help you determine the part that best fits your vocal range, and you'll be paired with a buddy in that section. Throughout rehearsal, you'll be welcome to participate however you feel comfortable.
So, I just show up on a Thursday night?
Yep! Rehearsal begins at 6:30pm, so we recommend arriving a few minutes early. Our Membership Coordinator will greet you, and you'll be on your way to becoming the next member of GRC.
Tell me more about the audition process.
Yes, we require auditions, and we want you to feel safe and supported throughout the process. We'll provide you with sheet music and learning tracks for our audition song (it's the theme song from "Cheers," which should tell you something about us). You'll have several weeks to prepare, and when you're ready, you'll sing in a quartet with a few of our section coaches. A coach from your section will be there to back you up. You can even have a practice audition to get comfortable!
What if I haven't really sung since high school/college/my church choir?
No sweat! As you talk with our members, you'll find that many of us have that same story.
Do I have to be able to read music?
Some experience reading music is helpful, but it's not required. We provide sheet music and audio learning tracks for all of the songs in our repertoire in order to make them adaptable and acccesible for all members and learning styles, and vocal instruction is a regular part of our rehearsals.
🎤 Who We Are and What We Sing 🎤
What kind of music do you sing?
We sing barbershop a cappella four-part harmony in an eclectic mix of genres.
How often do you perform?
We love to entertain by putting on our own musical events each year for the community, our friends, and families. We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, private receptions, and at an annual competition. We also partner with local memory care/assisted living facilities and nonprofit organizations to help spread the joy of music.
🌈 Inclusion and Identity 🌈
I
'm trans / non-binary / gender-fluid. Am I welcome at GRC?
Yes. Sweet Adelines chapter membership is open to women, including trans women, and non-binary treble singers. Read more about
GRC's core values and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion here.
💸 Logistics & Cost 💸
Is there a cost to join?
Members pay dues (currently $40/month) that provide access to benefits at the local, regional, and international levels, including voice coaching, music education, conventions and competitions, retreats, and more. Members are also responsible for a yearly 'fair share' contribution that helps cover additional chorus expenses. Angel funds are available for members experiencing financial hardship.
